Are you an artist interested in a new type of residency where you become a part of an R&D team, working directly with engineers, scientists or technologists in solving a problem?

At PROJECT61, we are providing an opportunity for Artists to collaborate with the nations best Engineers, Technologists and Scientists in a mutual exchange of knowledge, creativity, innovation, thinking, offering of different perspectives, technical proficiency and questioning.

Date: Spring/Summer 2019. We are still securing the final dates. Stay tuned.

Deadline for 2019 Engagements: November 15th, 2018. Our jury will convene end of November to consider candidates for Spring/Summer 2019 session.

Duration: 4 months on site at the company lab. (in some cases the engagement may last shorter or longer and is dependent on the project, company, artist's schedule and PROJECT61)

Departments: Ceramics, Glass Acoustics and Data Viz/Storytelling

Logistics: Artist is required to be on site, in the lab or in the corporate office to work with the Engineering and Science team a minimum of 3 days a week, hours from 10am-5pm. Longer times and days are encouraged and available and are up to the team. Artist must collaborate with the Engineers and Scientists on a particular problem in tandem with working on their own project that relates to the material or the problem to be solved. Artist must be comfortable in a corporate environment and comfortable collaborating with the nations best Engineers and Scientists. Artist must be responsible, punctual, respectful, self sufficient, and comply with the applicable laws of codes of conduct. Our program is about the process. Artist is not responsible for producing a work of art or a product. Artist will be responsible for a final presentation to the company of the collaboration, the project and their own personal work progress at the end of the engagement. 

Stipend: PROJECT61 will pay the Artist a monthly payment of $4,000.00

Housing: At this time we can not offer living accommodations. Artist is responsible for their own housing, food and transportation. Studio space is not provided. At this time we are unable to support international Visa's.
